New Clubs in April 2012

Bridge-Game.Info would like to welcome some new clubs to the site. These include Manly Golf Bridge Club, Forest Bridge Club and Wollstonecraft Bridge Club. Some participating clubs are still to use the site to its full potential, but it is great to see BGI fulfill its collaborative information sharing purpose.

Helping Players find Partners

Bridge-Game.Info wants to help clubs and players handle the significant and continuing issue of players (who have lost their regular partners for any number of reasons) finding it difficult to find new compatible partners - and sometimes instead dropping out from regular play.

With a strong social element, this is not a simple problem. Also as a demographic, bridge players are not typically comfortable with advanced technology so a solution would also need to be technologically simple. Our thinking to date is along these lines:

Director Vacancies

A couple of clubs have suggested that a useful service the BGI site could provide would be to offer clubs the option to list future short term (and possibly long term) director vacancies. This idea would need to be implemented and communicated well. Consequently BGI would like to get more club input as to what is required and how it would work best.

ASE 9 released

ASE Computing has announced the release of ASE Scorer 9, providing the following information. The most important feature is the full support of the new ABF masterpoint scheme. Clubs not involved in the ABF will find that ASE version 8 is still quite adequate.

It includes these features in addition to the original ASE Scorer 8 version:
