Updating the ABF Members File

The following note from Ian McKinnon (the writer of the ASE Scorer program) explains how to update the reference National  file of ABF members that is used by ASE when you are trying to add a new player to your club's database.

The ABF members are found in your national file. In the ASE Scorer this file is the abf.gdb or abf.fdg file. The file is viewable in [system][national file] and its location is shown on the top of that screen.

This file can be updated with the latest members using the abf.fil file found at http://www.asecomputing.com/ASEScorer/abf.fil. It also can be found on the ABF site at http://www.masterpoints.org.au/FILES...SE/abf2ase.exe

By having the latest file you will always have the latest list of players.

To load this file with the latest members first close ASE8. Then download the abf.fil, placing it in the location you want the new abf.gdb or abf.fdg file. If that is the same place as the old file replace the existing file. Also if you are using the same place for the masterfile delete, move or rename the old abf.fdg or abf.gdb file.

Start ASE8 and go to [system][national file] and choose [file][open] and if it asks are you going to use an existing file say no. Then say yes to proceed message.

Then select [open] with the abf.fil file you have just downloaded. This will load the latest members and this newly created file will be used in all future abf member searches.
