About the Manly Leagues Bridge Club

Tea & Coffee Volunteer Guidelines

Thanks for volunteering to coordinate the tea, coffee and biscuits for a MLBC bridge session. This document provides some guidance and tips:

  1. Purchase milk. The 2lt container can be purchased from the bar near the Bistro. They will supply a receipt and the Director will reimburse you in return for this receipt. Should the milk run out, there is some long life milk in the cupboard.
  2. Check there is enough water in urn, and that the urn is on. If it hasn't been filled ask a member of the Leagues Club staff to do so. They are always happy to oblige. If for some reason the urn is not working properly, ask for a replacement.
  3. Put out the coffee and tea (there are normally a couple of varieties of tea) and boxes of individual sugar sachets.
  4. Put out the biscuits, generally on the disposable plates. Usually the biscuit quantities for a session are 1 pkt of sweet & 1pkt savory. Obviously this varies when we have a larger group or beginners in supervised play or lessons. I try to keep 2 sizes of sweet biscuits so that they can be topped up as required.I'm a great believer in keeping people happy & if opening another pkt of biscuits does the trick, go for it. I prefer to throw out any small quantities left over, however there are disposable plastic tie top bags in the cupboard - obvously use any opened packets first. We also have paper disposable plates.
  5. There is a container of disposable plastic teaspoons. Should these run out we have a ready supply available at the Bistro where the coffee is picked up. We are trying to avoid any washing up or storing of used plates etc.
  6. We have a container of hand disinfectant. Can you please put that out & put it away, together with the notice board.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me - Jan McLennan, Vice-President.
